Iris – I’m a proud Amsterdammer. As an experienced all-round loctician and owner/founder of Irie Dreads Salon. I’m in my element in the salon every day. I’m a proud mum of three boys and always coming up with new ideas and ways to grow.

I’ve been wearing my locs for 18 years, and in 2018 I discovered a beautiful new style that has since taken the salon by storm: Beachlocs. This unique mix of locs and loose strands is now a firm favourite with our clients. It’s wonderful to see how this look inspires so many women, especially those who are still unsure about committing to locs.

With over 20 years of experience working with a variety of hair types and styles, I’m passionate about creating and maintaining locs. Whether it’s touching up grown-out roots or adding volume to Beachlocs, I’m always excited to work with hair and create a fresh, radiant look. I also love sharing my knowledge with clients and colleagues, so everyone can care for their locs properly using the best products.

Irie Dreads Salon has been based in Heesterveld since 2014, where I’ve built a loyal clientele. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, how we’ve grown, and the adventures still ahead of us. My fantastic team—our tribe of unique women—is the force behind everything we do. Together, we’ve created a place where you don’t just come for your dreads; the vibes, energy and passion keep bringing you back.

I love what I do: styling beautiful locs, the special bond we have with our clients, and especially seeing your happy smile when you look in the mirror at your new look, full of confidence!

When I’m not in the salon, I’m in full “momlife-with-Irie” mode, busy with my family of five. In between the hustle and bustle, I work behind the scenes on content and running the salon.

And at our pop-up location on Bonaire too! I work on the island as a loctician 2–3 times a year, helping shape the future of Irie Dreads. Yes, we’re global! ;-) And believe me, there are so many exciting plans for the future that I can’t wait to bring to life.

Santé – Loctician, IT specialist & proud mum of 3 boys

My loc journey began at a young age. When my hair started to grow, my mother chose to start my locs. I’m grateful she made that choice, because for me, locs are not only a practical way to wear my hair, but a beautiful one too. They’re easy to maintain, look great, and I’m proud of my long locs—my crown!

I grew up in a Rastafari family, where locs were always an important part of our lives. This culture and the meaning of locs are close to my heart, and I’m happy to carry on this tradition.

My work as a loctician grew out of my passion for locs. It feels like a blessing to be able to share that love for my craft at the Irie Dreads salon. Years ago, when we met as mums and friends, we already knew this day would come. We would carry on our shared love of locs and turn it into a profession. And here we are! Together, we do what we do best.

I’m an all-round loctician with experience in all hair types and styles, but I specialise in Black hair, particularly hair types 3b to 4c, and the interlocking method. Loc washes and detox treatments have become one of my favourite services!

You’ll find me in the salon on Monday evenings, Wednesdays & Thursdays, where I’ll be happy to help you care for your locs.

Laura

Laura – mum of two young children, originally from Heemstede.

My dreadlock journey began six years ago, after careful consideration. I started by making a few dreads for myself, and they soon became the beginning of a beautiful, full head of locs. I feel so much more like myself with my locs. “Traditional” hair wasn’t for me; from the moment I got dreads, I felt more authentic than ever.

My dreadlocks are not just a style choice, but also an expression of my creativity.

At Irie Dreads, I can put my creativity to full use and create the most beautiful locs together with you. I love the deep conversations we share and the genuine connections I build with our clients. I’m an all-round loctician, experienced in working with all hair types and advising you on how to care for your locs. I also make human hair extensions for clients who’d like to add length.

Alongside my work in the salon, you’ll often find me out in nature—the forest or my own garden are my favourite places to unwind. I also balance motherhood with studying herbal medicine, and I’m passionate about making music, painting, creating portraits, jewellery and hair accessories. Nya

Hi! I’m Nya, and I’ve recently joined the Irie Dreads team!

My love of hair began years ago, when I started my hairdressing training. Although my career eventually took a different direction, my passion for hair never went away.

Over the years, I’ve lovingly created and cared for my son’s locs. What started as something personal grew into a passion that I’d love to share with others.

When the Irie Dreads Masterclass came along, everything fell into place for me. The love for the craft, the attention to detail and Irie Dreads’ high standards inspired me to develop my passion further and make my dream of working as a loctician a reality.

Alongside my love of hair, I’m creative and passionate about art. I love working with my hands, expressing my creativity and making something beautiful for someone else. Working with locs brings all of those things together for me. With patience, care and love, I’ll take the time to give your locs the care they deserve.

You’ll find me in the salon three days a week, and I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to my chair.
