Iris
Owner / All-round Master Loctician
Working on: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & 1 Sunday per month
Iris, 41, and a proud Amsterdam native. As an experienced all-around loctician and owner of Irie Dreads Salon, I'm in my element every day. A mother of three energetic boys, I'm always busy with new ideas and developments. Sitting still isn't an option for me!
I've been wearing my locs for 18 years, and in 2018, I discovered a beautiful new style that has since taken the salon by storm: Beach Locs. This unique blend of locs and loose strands is now a client favorite. It's such a joy to see how this look inspires so many women, especially those who are still hesitant to go all-out with locs.
With over 20 years of experience working with various hair types and styles, I'm passionate about creating and maintaining locs. Whether it's touching up overgrown roots or adding volume to beach locs, I'm always excited to work with hair and create a fresh, radiant look. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with clients and colleagues so everyone can properly maintain their locs with the best products.
Since 2014, I've been located in Heesterveld with Irie Dreads Salon, where I've built a loyal clientele. I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together, the growth we're experiencing, and the adventures that lie ahead. My fantastic team—our tribe—is the driving force behind everything we do. Together, we create a place where you don't just come for your dreads, but where the vibes, energy, and passion bring you back again and again.
I love what I do: styling beautiful locs, the special bond we have with our clients, and especially that happy smile when you confidently look in the mirror at your new look. That makes everything worthwhile for me.
When I'm not in the salon, I'm in full "momlife-with-Irie" mode, busy with my family and the lives of five. Between all that hustle and bustle, I work behind the scenes on the content and running the salon. And believe me, there are tons of exciting plans for the future that I'm incredibly excited about, and I can't wait to welcome you in my chair soon!
Santé
Allround & Interlock specialist Loctician
Working on Wednesday & Thursday
Santé – 42 years old, Loctician, ICT'er & proud mother of 3 boys
My loc journey began at a young age. When my hair started growing, my mother decided to make locs. I'm grateful for that choice, because it's not only a practical but also a beautiful way for me to wear my hair. It's easy to maintain, looks amazing, and I'm proud of my long locs—my crowning glory!
I grew up in a Rastafarian family, where locs were always an important part of our lives. This culture and the meaning of locs are deeply ingrained in my heart, and I'm happy to continue this tradition.
My passion for locs is what gave birth to my work as a loctician. It feels like a blessing to be able to share this love for the craft in the salon at Irie Dreads. Years ago, when we met as mothers and friends, we knew this day would come. We would pursue our shared love of locs and make it a professional profession. And here we are! Together, we do what we do best.
I'm a versatile loctician with experience in all hair types and styles, but I specialize in Black hair, specifically hair types 3b to 4c, and the interlock method. And the loc wash and detox is definitely my favorite treatment!
You can find me on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the salon, where I am happy to help you take care of your locs.
Laura
Allround Loctician
working on Thursday & Saturday
Laura, 33 years old, mother of 2 young children and from Heemstede.
My adventure with dreadlocks began six years ago, after careful consideration. I started with a few dreads, which quickly became the beginning of a beautiful, full head of hair. These days, almost all my dreads are homemade, and I feel so much more like myself with my locs. "Traditional" hair wasn't for me; from the moment I got dreads, I felt more authentic than ever.
My dreadlocks are not only a style choice, but also an expression of my creativity.
At Irie Dreads, I can fully utilize this creativity and, together with you, create the most beautiful locs. I love the deep conversations we have and the genuine connections I build with our clients.
Besides my work in the salon, I often spend time in nature – the woods or my own garden are my favorite places to relax. I also combine motherhood with studying herbal medicine and am passionate about making music, paintings, portraits, jewelry, and hair accessories. I organize retreats and am always working on new creative projects. I invite you to check out my Instagram for more inspiration and hope to welcome you to my chair at Irie Dreads soon!
Naomi
Allround Loctician
working on Tuesdays & Fridays
Naomi, 35 years old, mother of three children and currently employed as a locksmith at Irie Dreads.
As a loctician, I find great satisfaction in caring for, maintaining, and creating locs. I work with calmness, attention, and precision—and it's important to me that you feel comfortable in the chair. During the treatment, I take the time to truly listen to your needs. Whether you'd like to share your story or simply relax in silence, I adapt to your needs. I have a natural connection with children and can quickly put them at ease. With great patience, I ensure that even the youngest clients have a pleasant experience in the salon.
Besides my work at Irie Dreads, I'm a part-time educational professional and coach. This background helps me connect with people on a deeper level and contribute to their well-being—whether through a good conversation or by caring for their hair.
In my spare time I am active in the gym or I go for walks with my family and I delve into everything related to personal development, education and creativity.
I look forward to seeing you in the salon soon!
